I think I just wrapped up the copy editing. Which means Deluxe is THIS much closer.
The juicy addition to Appendix G for the day was a look at when players roll protection. Since she can always choose to take half on a protection roll, a player might as well take half anytime the Guide tells her to take damage equal to half of her protection die plus one. It saves time, and minimizes damage.
Likewise, a player will often choose to roll protection if damage is much higher than taking half can affect. This can result in a large amount of damage getting through, but it can also result in reducing a large amount of damage.
Normally the Guide should expect this. But if a conflict is nearing its dramatic end, the Guide might put things in slow-motion, and ask a player if she wants to take half on protection BEFORE rolling the damage. The stakes feel higher, and everyone holds her breath a little longer waiting to see what happens.
